Two US in Progress Wrocław films to screen at the Berlinale

Following the selection of three US in Progress films to Sundance, Berlin follows suit with a world one premiere and one European premiere.

US in Progress is the first industry event in Europe devoted entirely to US-indies and focused on the completion and European distribution of American indie feature films at post-production stage.

It screens works in progress of independent American films at closed screenings to a selected group of attending European professionals.

US in Progress organizers are very proud that 2 films out of 6, which were selected and presented in Wrocław in 2012 were also spotted by the Berlinale programmers.

The first one is Matt Porterfield’s I Used To Be Darker, whichwill have its European premiere in the Forum section of the Berlinale.

This film was awarded promotion and distribution support from Europa Distribution and CICAE at the Wrocław event.

The other film shown at the Berlinale will be Daniel Carbone’s Hide Your Smiling Faces, which will have its world premiere in the Generation 14Plus competition.

The film received two post-production awards in Wrocław: services worth $10,000 from the Warsaw-based VFX studio Platige Image, and DCP and subtitling services from DCinex and VSIParis/Chinkel worth $5,000. Most of the film’s image post-production was done in Warsaw in January 2013.

As previously announced, three US in Progress films will also screen in Sundance this week: Hannah Fidell’sA Teacher (2012 winner of US in Progress Paris) as well as I Used To Be Darker by Matt Porterfield and Milkshake by David Andalman.

US in Progress Wrocław is organized in November by the New Horizons Association and Black Rabbit Film with the support of City of Wrocław, Poland’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the American Embassy in Poland. Partners include: Platige Image, Soundflower Studio, Alvernia Studios, DCinex, VSI Paris/Chinsel, Europa Distribution, CICAE, Producers Network, IFP, Wajda Studio and US in Progress Paris.
