Steven and the Beetle
Stefan i Żuczek
dir. Piotr Loc Hoang Ngoc / Poland 2012 / 12’
subtitles: Polish and English

Naoussa IFF 2012 – Special Mention; Holland AFF 2013 – Special Mention

Film description

Adored by women, coach Stefan lives in a sterile and ordered community. Beetle, on the other hand, embodies everything expunged from Stefan’s life: spontaneity, corporeality, and lack of hygiene. Their paths cross and seeds of friendship take strong root (though it reeks of mésalliance) in a surprisingly fresh diagnosis of interpersonal relationships and an interesting metaphor for the dangerous tendencies in our contemporary world.
